Pakistan is blessed with captivating natural splendor. It possesses many natural marvels, like scorching deserts and chilly glaciers, plains and mountains, coasts and forests, attractive lakes and stretched rivers. Pakistan’s Indus River system is one of the largest in Asia that provides extensive economic welfare. 1. The Indus River

It is the most important and longest river in Pakistan. It starts from Tibet, crosses the country and falls into the Arabian Sea. It is formed by glaciers and snow of the Himalayas. The Indus River system includes 3 main reservoirs, 16 Barrages, 2 Siphons, 12 inter link canals, 2 head-works, 44 canal systems and more than 107000 water courses. The collective length of the canals is about 56073 km. Its entire basin covers an area of about 384,000 square miles of open land, from which 204,000 sq. km lies in Pakistan. 2. River Sutlej

It is also a major river in Pakistan. It is longest of the rivers in Punjab. It begins from west of Tibet and Flows from Northwest valleys of Himalayas. It crosses Himachal Pardesh (India) and enters the Punjab in Hoshiarpur district. The length of River Sutlej is1450 km, the length in Pakistan is 526 km and prominent Engineering are Dialpir canal, Islam Barrage and Head Sulemanki.

3. The Chenab

It begins in the Kulu and Kangra districts of the Himachal Pradesh, in India. Two main Streams of Chenab River are the Chandr, and the Bangr that go up at a height of 16000 feet, which unite at Tandi in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Numerous lakes enhance its bulk and it achieves a huge power above Kashmir. In comes into Pakistan at Sialkot near Diawara village. It has a prominent place in Punjabi culture due to well known love stories of Heer Ranjha and Sohni Mahiwal which are connected with this river.
